Men’s Wimbledon Betting Tips

On the men’s side, most tennis bettors are backing either Nadal or Federer to take the Wimbledon title this year. Federer has owned the grass for years now, but he has an extremely tough competitor in Nadal. In 2008, Nadal beat Federer for the Wimbledon championship but then Nadal missed it in 2009.

Sportsbooks are currently favoring Federer over Nadal for the Wimbledon win. Federer is the king of grass, with six Wimbledon titles to his name and a rock solid grass record. His experience, skill and tenacity make Federer the favorite to win this year. However, I don’t think Federer represents the best bet this year.

In terms of pure value, Nadal looks like this year’s best Wimbledon bet. He is still a clear underdog but I think he has a better chance than people are giving him credit for. Yes, Nadal had an injury-prone 2009 but his record in 2010 is 31-4. On top of that, Nadal’s 2008 Wimbledon championship shows that he has what it takes to beat Federer on grass.

Bodog is currently paying 5/2 which is a great payout for a Nadal win. Although Nadal is the underdog in this match, I think his chances are good enough to warrant a bet with 5/2 odds. Nadal has many things going for him – his age, confidence against Federer and the willpower to make it happen.

Nadal Odds at Bodog: 5/2

Women’s Wimbledon Betting Tips

The women’s Wimbledon title is much harder to predict this year. The Williams sisters are the favorites right now but the event is wide open. Serena and Venus are getting older but both still have plenty of firepower. Their biggest threats this year will be Justine Henin and Kim Clijsters.

This might not be the most original pick in the world, but I’m going to have to go with Serena this time around. She is always strong on the grass and probably still has the ability to get it done. With 9/4 odds at Bodog, it’s an attractive bet but not one that I want to risk too much money on.

No matter who you pick to win the women’s Wimbledon title, I wouldn’t recommend putting a lot of money at risk. The women’s side has too much competition and none of the lines show much value. As we get closer to the tournament, I think the best value bets will be found in individual matches rather than outright win predictions. Here are how the odds are looking for the top five contenders at Bodog:

Serena Williams – 9/4

Venus Williams – 4/1

Justine Henin – 7/1

Kim Clijsters – 10/1

Maria Sharapova – 8/1
